We have enhanced our floral design this year with a trial trough mounted on the yellow bar bridge. If this is a success then we aim to add even more on both sides of the bridge next year. Maybe if you know of a local company who would wish to sponsor one then please contact us...........
All plants this year were kindly put together for us by Creswick Nursery.... A big thanks for the excellent display..

South Darenth Village Society is run by villagers for the village! All monies raised at events are put straight back into the village in a number of ways. For example there are the big events such as the Summer Concert and the Fireworks Display, which offer extremely good value for money. Your support on our smaller events enables us to put on these bigger shows, so please continue to support all our events as much as you can! You will have a lot of fun and meet other like minded local people on the way!

If you are aged between 11-18yrs old and fancy going Paintballing, Horseriding, Windsurfing, or any other activity, then here's how!! Various events such as clearing the Lower Paddock, litter picks, river picks are being organised and if you come along and help, you will receive 2 points per hour (12 points = 1 day's Paintballing!). More information can be found under the youth section on this website.
Although some bulbs have been planted, there is much more to be done. If you have any areas you wish to see blooming in the Spring or throughout the summer months then please let us know or maybe you wish to adopt a part of the many open spaces....
We are sure you have all seen the flowers along Horton Road and on the Mill Green! All your donations go towards displays such as these, which can only enhance our village.
The Village Society have adopted the river from the bottom of Holmesdale Hill to the Horton Kirby Fishing Lakes. In conjunction with Thames21 www.thames21.org.uk and the Environment Agency, litter picks, fishing advice, water testing and lots more will be happening along the river. If you want to be involved please check the website and noticeboards, or call 863549.
The Village Society cannot exist without the support of the village. We have been running for over 5 years now and hope that your tremendous support will continue for many years! Remember, there is no village community unless you and your family are a part of it!
We would like to take this opportunity to also thank Timber-Mouldings Builders Merchants and Dartford Engraving & Screen Printing Ltd, for the support they have given our society with their kind and generous donations of materials and services for various events we have organised.
In addition to the funding already received, The West Kent Extra Community Chest Project Appraisal Group held a meeting on the 30 June 2005 and have since advised us that it was agreed to award the South Darenth Village Society further funding towards our local community projects.
We have also been informed that West Kent Extra are organising an "outwood bound" activity day on the 1 September and that they have kindly offered us places on it for some of our young people. Further information will be made available on the web site nearer the time.
